Sunday Tea Dances is an American event located in New York City, in the 1950's and 1960's practiced among the homosexual community. [1] The name references events that had been taking place in America and England since the 1880's. [2] The were events included tea service and involved dancing, and a place for singles to meet.

There are stories told of gay men being chained to poles as the local police used these raids as a way to meet their monthly arrest quotas. nn
